Leo J. Tebbe, 85, rural New Bremen, died at 6:40 p.m. June 2, 2014, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys.

He was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Glynwood, to William and Mary Kramer Tebbe. On April 25, 1953, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, he married Mary A. Craft, who survives.

Also surviving are sons, Mike (Mary) Tebbe, St. Marys, Dan (Linda) Tebbe, St. Marys, Allen (Sandi) Tebbe, Bowling Green, Jerry (Stacy) Tebbe, St. Marys, Kevin (Sharon) Tebbe, Mt. Gilead, and Paul (Vonnie Noel) Tebbe, Rockford; daughters, Diane (Mark) Batcher, Beavercreek, Annette (Mike) Hensley, Lima, and Brenda (Sam) Conley, Baldwinsville, N.Y.; a brother, Lawrence (Rita) Tebbe, Wapakoneta; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline Reinhart, Portland, Ind., and Betty (Jay) Meyring, Amsterdam, N.Y.; brothers, Ray Tebbe, Tipp City, Don (Marjorie) Tebbe, Phoenix, Ariz., and Alvin (Edna) Tebbe, Celina; brothers-in-law, Vic (Mary) Craft, Milford, Ken (Judy) Craft, St. Marys, Melvin (LaDonna) Craft, Montezuma, and Dave (Luana) Craft, Wapakoneta; and sisters-in-law, Jan Craft, St. Marys, and Ruth Craft, St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Eunice Tobe; parents-in-law, Bernard and Estelle Craft; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jack Tobe, Vic Rienhart, Marilyn Tebbe, Don Craft, Carl Craft and Bernard (Rita) Craft.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was retired from Beatrice Foods Corp., New Bremen, where he worked as a stationary engineer. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, and the American Legion in Coldwater. He and his wife, Mary, enjoyed square dancing and were charter members of the Tri-Squares Square Dance Club. He also liked to fish and care for his large vegetable garden. Most of all, he liked to spoil his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Marys, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte offociating. Burial with graveside military honors will follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, St. Marys.

Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home West Chapel, St. Marys.
