More than 400 people, including representatives from the Mercer County Firefighters Colored Guard, Celina Veterans of Foreign Wars, Celina American Legion and Celina High School Marching Band gathered at Lake Shore Park on Monday to celebrate Memorial Day. Mercer County Probate/Juvenile Court Judge Mary Pat Zitter spoke during the ceremony, telling the crowd more than a million men and women have given their lives so we have our freedom. "We need to remember those fallen were at one time someone's baby, toddlers who ran around and played and cried, went to school, cried over first loves, had victories and looked forward to their future," Zitter said. "They didn't get to fulfill their dreams, but we honor them for giving their all."
