* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Max Swoveland
Max D. Swoveland, 89, Ohio City, went home to be with his Lord and Savior at 2:02 p.m. March 8, 2014, at Kindred Hospital, Lima, with his family and his fiancee by his side.
He was born Aug. 9, 1924, in Ohio City, to Von Cassel and Neoma Luetta Dilbone Swoveland. On April 1, 1948, he married Patria Jean Chambers, who died March 2, 1997.
Survivors include two daughters, Christina (Tom) Chilcote, Van Wert, and Dawn (Douglas) Laemmle, Van Wert; a son, Dan Swoveland, Ohio City; granddaughters, Sheila (Keith) Collins, Jessica (Alex) Feasby and Tara (Scott) Taylor; grandsons, Douglas Tyler Laemmle and Derin Tanner Laemmle; two stepgreat-granddaughters, Courtney Taylor and Haley Taylor; and a fiancee, Joann Cox.
Deceased are a granddaughter, Danielle Jean Swoveland; a brother and sister-in-law, Jon (Sharon) Swoveland; and a sister, Peggy Jean Swoveland.
He was a 1942 graduate of Ohio City-Liberty High School and attended Ohio Northern University on a basketball scholarship. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II while attending college. He was in the Battle of the Bulge. He worked for General Telephone Company and retired after 35 years. He was a lifetime member of Ohio City Church of God and a member of the Ohio City American Legion Post 346. He farmed after his retirement and loved and raised horses. He and his wife, Pat, were 4-H horse advisors for many years. He also had many wonderful dogs and was known for taking his dogs everywhere he went. He loved fishing with friends and family and his dog.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, the Rev. Steven G. Waterman and Randy Bevington officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling is 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of services.
