James Faller
James A. Faller, 84, Rossburg, died March 3, 2014, at his residence.
He was born March 13, 1929, in Fort Recovery, to Leo and Veronica Hoening Faller. On Oct. 30, 1954, he married Mary Post in St. Wendelin, and she survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Mike (Anita) Faller, Geneva, Ind., Mark (Priscilla) Faller, Huber Heights, Steve (Ginger) Faller, Rossburg, and Nick Faller, Fort Recovery; six daughters, Janie (Scott) Hole, Celina, Judy (Tom) Wentworth, Rossburg, Connie (Bob) Kunk, Coldwater, Margie (Rick) Young, Waverly Hall, Ga., Missy (Gordie) Schmitz, New Weston, and Amy (Chris) Bihn, Fort Recovery; four sisters, Ethel Jutte, Fort Recovery, Ruth Cross, Pittsburgh, Pa., Ginny Schwieterman, St. Henry, and Kathleen Faller, Fort Recovery; a brother, Richard "Fritz" (Betty) Faller, Coldwater; 34 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters-in-law, Aggie Faller, St. Henry, and Jeannette Faller, Celina.
He was preceded in death by two grandsons, Neil and Ryan; two brothers, Edwin "Buss" Faller and Harold "Boots" Faller; and three brothers-in-law, Albert Jutte, Robert Cross and Dennis Schwieterman.
He was a 1947 graduate of Fort Recovery High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Fort Recovery American Legion and the Fort Recovery Veterans of Foreign Wars and was the former president of the Fort Recovery Alumni Association. He was a proud Korean War veteran and a member of the Korean War Veterans, Piqua. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and was a devout Catholic, who served his local parish by leading the rosary in church, serving as a lector and was an adult server for many years. He also was an award-winning gardener who shared his harvest with many. He enjoyed farming and taking pictures or videos at various events.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Sharpsburg.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, with an American Legion prayer service at 7:45 p.m. Thursday.
