Single car crash injures four area people

By Margie Wuebker
Four area residents were injured early Saturday morning when the car in which they were riding veered out of control along Oregon Road, west of Celina-Mendon Road.
Authorities cited the driver, Joshua L. Hanson, 20, of Wapakoneta, for driving under the influence.
A passenger, Adam Patrick Casey, 17, of St. Marys, was ejected from the vehicle and taken by ambulance to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital, St. Marys. He later was taken by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton. His condition was unavailable this morning.
Also injured was Hanson and another passenger, 19-year-old Tyler Poppe, St. Marys, who were taken to the St. Marys hospital and treated for minor injuries.
A fourth passenger, 16-year-old Aubrey Michelle Poppe of St. Marys, was taken to the St. Marys hospital sometime later, the Mercer County Sheriff's Office report said.
Hanson was driving a 2005 Cadillac SRX westbound at 12:17 a.m. when it traveled off the left side of the road, according to the report. He overcorrected and lost control. The car traveled off the right side of the pavement and rolled several times before coming to rest in a nearby field.
The accident remains under investigation.

Correction:
Driver Joshua L. Hanson, 20, of Wapakoneta, was not cited for driving under the influence following a single vehicle accident Nov. 30 on Oregon Road, west of Celina. A portable breath analyzer was not working and a vision screening was administered following the accident but no citation was issued.
The error was made in reporting.
