Enola Hirschfeld
Enola G. Hirschfeld, 93, formerly of New Bremen, died at 7:23 p.m. Oct. 15, 2013, at Emerald Crossings, Dublin.
She was born Jan. 21, 1920, in St. Marys, to Franklin and Alvina Luelleman Luedeke. On July 5, 1942, she married Verlin Hirschfeld, who died Dec. 24, 2011.
Survivors include her children, Gary (Kathy) Hirschfeld, Findlay, Craig (Sheila) Hirschfeld, Holland, and Christine Kelser, Dublin; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Deceased are her siblings, Merlin Luedeke, Orlando Luedeke, Larue Luedeke and Cleora Block.
She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, and the Busy 12 of the church. She was a 1937 graduate of Memorial High School, St. Marys, a beautician and a homemaker. Her home was always open to guests, and she loved to entertain with her wonderful cooking and baking. She enjoyed playing cards and was a serious bridge player. She also had a passion for sewing. In retirement, she and her husband enjoyed traveling, including their 25 years of wintering in Florida.
Funeral services are 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul United Church of Christ, New Bremen, the Rev. Becky Erb Strang officiating. Burial will follow at the German Protestant Cemetery, New Bremen.
Memorial contributions may be made to the church for the restoration of the stained-glass windows.
