Corrine Snyder-Poulson
Corrine Ann Snyder-Poulson, 87, Edgerton, died at 4:33 p.m. Sept. 17, 2013, at Defiance Inpatient Hospice.
She was born Jan. 19, 1926, in Van Wert County, to Fred N. and Martha Ann Swander Straley. In 1948, she married Gerald Lloyd Snyder, who died March 16, 2006. Her second husband, David L. Poulson, survives in Edgerton.
Also surviving are her children, Barbara (Daniel) Everidge, Ohio City, Jerry (Peggy) Snyder, Ohio City, Jack (Deborah) Snyder, Ohio City, Norma (Dean) Schweizer, Celina, Nancy (Karl) Hans, Churubusco, Ind., and Margaret (Mike) Fetcho, Holland; six step-children, Peggy (Tonny) Lucas, Bryan, Barbara (Duane) Landfeld, Woodsfield, Paul (Debra) Poulson, Iron Mountain, Mich., Mark (Carol) Poulson, Ney, John (Lexie) Poulson, Archbold, and Thomas (Sara) Poulson, Johnstown; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; three brothers, Fred, Albert and Virgil, who died in childhood; and a sister, Grace McGee.
She graduated in 1942 from Hoaglin-Jackson High School and earned her bachelor's degree in music education from The Ohio State University and a master's degree from Wright State University. She retired after 23 years of teaching music at Wren and Crestview schools. She also taught private piano lessons at Turner Music Store for a number of years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday School, was director of the hand bell choir and sang in the choir. She recently attended the Farmer Unite Methodist Church. She enjoyed many crafts, including spinning, knitting, weaving, pottery and fiber art.
She was also a board member for the Van Wert Community Concert Association, a member of the Wren Historical Society, and art department volunteer at Crestview Schools.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Van Wert, the Rev. Hal Shafer officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in Green Park Cemetery, Portland, Ind.
Calling is 5-7 p.m. Friday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Friday at Farmer United Methodist Church.
Memorial donations may be given to Wren EMS, Hicksville EMS, First Presbyterian Church Music Fund or the Farmer United Methodist Church Music Fund.
