Orville Hileman
Orville Edwin Hileman, 76, passed away suddenly Sept. 4, 2013, after a mercifully quick decline in health.
He was born Dec. 23, 1936, and raised in Wilshire and Celina. His wife of 22 years, Pat, survives.
Also surviving are two sons, David and Steven; a granddaughter, Jennifer; three nieces, Martha, Kristin and Nicole; one nephew, Charles White; six grand nieces, Patti, Barbara, Joy, Faith, Mary Kathryn and Charlotte; two grand nephews, Christian and Witt; four great-grand nieces; and two great-grand nephews. Of these, and his adopted and extended families, he was inordinately proud.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Waldo Hileman; and sister, Helen Jean White, whose husband Phillip survives.
Ed received his Ph.D. from Case Institute of Technology, Cleveland, and went on to a distinguished career as a teacher and professor at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
He was in equal measure a canoeist, opera enthusiast, train lover, wood worker and proud owner of Sarras on the French River. As the eldest son of eldest sons, he was the family genealogist.
A founding member of the Campus Ministries Council at McMaster, his service of late had been given to St Paul's United Church, where he was chair of the board for several years, and with the Greensville Optimists.
