Maurice Grieshop
Maurice J. Grieshop, 82, Fort Recovery, died July 24, 2013, at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering.
He was born April 22, 1931, in St. Peter, to Henry and Rose Schuh Grieshop. On June 26, 1954, he married Jeanette Schindler at Holy Trinity Church in Bryant, Ind., and she survives.
Also surviving are seven daughters, Catherine (Carl) Koesters of Fort Recovery, Theresa (Phillip) Hemmelgarn of Anna, Sandra (Thomas) Spettel of Westerville, Judith (James) Wood of Fort Recovery, Alice (Rob) Gaerke of Fort Recovery, Lisa (Jerry) Krieg of Lima and Jaymi (Marty) Stammen of Fort Recovery; three sons, Jeffrey (Dana) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, Dale (Nikki) Grieshop of Lima and Scott (Lisa) Grieshop of Fort Recovery; four brothers, Jerome (Norma) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, Lou (Charlene) Grieshop of Fort Recovery, Herb (Janice) Grieshop of Celina and John Grieshop of Wapakoneta; a sister, Rosemary (Herb) Kaiser of Coldwater; 44 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Doris Grieshop of Celina; and a brother-in-law, Fred Wilker of New Bremen.
He was preceded in death by three grandchildren; a brother, Dennis Grieshop; four sisters, Martha Dues, Ruth Wilker and Laura Langenkamp, and Catherine Grieshop, who died in infancy; brothers, Cletus Dues and Ralph Langenkamp; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Grieshop.
Maurice was a 1949 graduate of Fort Recovery High School. He co-founded J & M Manufacturing in Fort Recovery with his brother, Jerry Grieshop, and also served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the church choir for many years, and a member and former Post Commander of the American Legion in Fort Recovery. He was a charter member and one of the founders of the Fort Recovery Ambassadors, served on the Fort Recovery school board, and was a member of Full Gospel Businessmen's Fellowship International. He will be known for his love of Jesus our Savior, his generosity, inventive nature and his harmonica.
He was a member of Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church in Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Revs. Michael Dandurand and Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at St. Marys Cemetery in Fort Recovery, where graveside military honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Sunday and 9-10 a.m. Monday at Brockman - Boeckman Funeral Home in Fort Recovery.
Memorials may be given to the Fort Recovery Community Foundation, where they will be used for area families in need.
