Celina business plans to expand

Four-U Packaging will build warehouse at industrial park

By Eric Adams
CELINA - A local business is expanding into the Grand Lake Industrial Park.
The city planning commission approved a lot split and site plan Thursday for the construction of a 13,840-square-foot shipping/receiving warehouse and office building at 7980 Havemann Road.
Don Uhlenhake, owner of Four-U Packaging in Celina, is using that site to add another location to his business. Uhlenhake has a shipping facility on Industrial Drive that handles primarily office supplies. His new building will handle cleaning/janitorial supplies.
"Basically we're just putting up a ... warehouse (with) two loading docks and two other drive-up doors," he said. "Pretty similar to any kind of steel building you look at."
He said the expansion will likely result in a small number of new hires.
The 5.142-acre lot is owned by Versa Pak LTD., a Celina-based packaging company located at 500 Staeger Road. Uhlenhake purchased two acres, according to planning commission secretary Karen Siebert.
Uhlenhake said his current facility on Industrial Drive has a daily traffic of three to four shipping trucks. He added that his business has "outgrown" the location.
The companies handling construction include Schockman Lumber of St. Henry, CG&H of Celina, Lake Contracting of Celina and Koester Electric, Inc. of Coldwater.
Uhlenhake's structure will closely neighbor the Celina Moving offices/shipping warehouse. A dirt pad outlining the building's dimensions has already been laid.
