Sam Swartz
Sam Swartz, 74, St. Marys, died at 10:20 p.m. July 8, 2013, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born July 11, 1938, in St. Marys, to Samuel and Cynthia Davis Swartz. On April 25, 1965, he married Kathryn Katterhenry, who died Feb. 18, 1990.
Surviving are a son, Paul (Sue) Swartz of St. Marys; three grandchildren, Chelsey, Corey and Nick; a brother, Charlie (Sue Ellen) Swartz of St. Marys; a sister, Melody Thrush of St. Johns; a sister-in-law, Janet Swartz of St. Marys; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Fred Swartz, and a brother-in-law, Junior Thrush.
He served in the Ohio National Guard. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., St. Marys, after 33 years of service. He was a member of Eagles Lodge Aerie 767, American Legion Post 323 and VFW Post 9289, all of St. Marys. He enjoyed fishing and was a family man who thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Funeral rites are 10:30 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, West Chapel, St. Marys, the Rev. Jon Kraner officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven Memory Gardens near Moulton.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given to Grand Lake Hospice.
