Jutte Excavating Inc., Fort Recovery, demolishes the 1935 section of the Fort Recovery High School on Monday. The contractor, which was awarded an $83,5000 bid by board of education members recently, will now prep the site for the future home of a $900,000 athletic center to be mostly funded by the athletic boosters. The center, to be completed this fall, will contain a community room, storage area and athletic space. The largest portion of the facility is designed to be versatile to meet the needs of all athletic programs. The demolition was part of an ongoing $2.34 million renovation of the high school, which includes a new heating and air conditioning system.

Other planned projects, including roofing work, ventilation, new asphalt and installation of security cameras, will be funded with $1.4 million from the school's permanent improvement fund.
