Rev. Glenn Masser
The Rev. Glenn E. Masser, 82, of Venedocia, joined the "Church Triumphant" as he met his Risen Lord on April 12, 2013, at Celina Manor, Celina.
Rev. Masser was born Nov. 3, 1930, to Leslie A. and Lillian M. Whipp Masser in Frederick County, Md. He married Mary Grams Masser on June 14, 1953, and she survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Robert E. (Peggy) Masser, Montrose, Mich., and Dr. Philip R. (Kelly) Masser, Celina; nine grandchildren, Heather (Aaron) Cupp, Rachel (Karl) Bowsher, Sarah Masser, Emily (Dusty) Fleck, Laura (Orville) Bennett, Jeremy (Melanie) Masser, Brian (Rani) Masser, and Brennen and Braelen Bader, Celina; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Mark A. Masser; two brothers, Richard L. and Leslie D. Masser; and a sister, Lillian J. Masser Morrison.
He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and enjoyed family time immensely.
Glenn was a 1947 graduate of Frederick High School in Maryland. In 1951, he left his beloved farm home to enter the ministry at Findlay College. After graduating from Findlay College, he studied at Winebrenner Seminary.
A United States Army veteran, Rev. Masser served from 1954-1956 during the Korean Conflict at bases in Ft. Jackson, S.C., Waukegan, Ill., Ft. Lewis, Wash., and in Alaska.
"Pastor Glenn," as he was affectionately named by his parishioners, pastored a number of churches in three states. In Maryland, he served as pastor of Winfield First Church of God and Indian Springs-Broadfording Churches of God. Lastly, he served in Ohio as pastor of the Sugar Ridge Community Church, Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Madison-North Bridgewater Churches of God and Mendon Church of God. His last pastorship was at the Ross Church of the Brethern in rural Mendon, where he served until 2008.
Pastor Masser will be honored for sixty years of service in the ministry at the Ohio Churches of God Conference in June. He had served on the Ministerial License and Ordination Board and also on the Board of Trustees for Winebrenner Haven in Findlay. He also worked as a caseworker for Mercer County Mental Health.
An avid outdoorsman, Pastor Glenn enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mendon First Church of God, the Revs. Keith Stoller and Dean Bruce officiating. Burial will be at Tomlinson Cemetery, near Mendon, with military rites by Celina VFW Post #5713 and Celina American Legion Post #210.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Monday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home in Celina and an hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.
