Dallas Pierstorff
Dallas Ernest Pierstorff, 83, Celina, died March 24, 2013, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Aug. 12, 1929, in Celina to Edward E. and Hazel L. Fast Pierstorff, who are deceased. He married Kathryn "Kitty" Gengler on Nov. 4, 1951, and she survives.
Also surviving are three children, Diane (Barry) Fennig of Celina, Rebekah Pierstorff Snead of St. Augustine, Fla., and Eric (Jodi) Pierstorff of Celina; seven grandchildren, Katie (Brian) Houts of Celina, Jessica (Mitch) Mullins of Celina, Megan Fennig of Trenton, Mich., Oscar Snead of St. Augustine, Fla., Rachel (Jeremy) Post of Celina, Sarah (Robert) Chaney of West Milton, and Joshua Pierstorff of Celina; six great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Pierstorff of Celina.
Also deceased is a brother, Edson Pierstorff.
A graduate of Celina High School, he served in the U.S. Navy, was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, and was a past member of the Celina Masonic Lodge.
He retired from General Telephone, having worked as a switchman.
He was a true Renaissance Man with many interests. His creative pursuits included painting, photography, woodworking and woodcarving. A nature lover, he enjoyed walking in the woods, birdwatching and gardening. He was a wonderful father and didn't know a stranger.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Celina, the Revs. Matt Reynolds and Steve Whetstone officiating. Burial will be at Buck Cemetery near Celina.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Dick & Sons-Hellwarth Funeral Home, Celina, and 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Celina Parks and Recreation Tree Fund or The Arbor Day Foundation.
