Virgil Anspaugh
Virgil E. Anspaugh, 95, Mendon, died of natural causes March 12, 2013, at The Laurels of Shane Hill, Rockford.
He was born April 21, 1917, in Berne, Ind., to Edward and Sarah Wendel Anspaugh. On June 10, 1937, he married Charlotte Shope, who died June 7, 2009.
Surviving are a son, Floyd (Dorothy) Anspaugh of Mendon; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Deceased are his stepmother, Ida Pond; three brothers, Henry, Edwin and Everett Anspaugh; and a sister, Osie Booker.
He was a retired farmer and also worked 12 years at Goodyear.
He was a member of the Mendon United Methodist Church, and a U.S. Army Veteran who had served in Japan during World War II.
Private funeral services will be held for the family at noon Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Rockford.
Celina V.F.W. and American Legion will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
No calling will be held.
