Local harvest under way
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A farmer harvests soybeans east of St. Marys just off U.S. 33. About a third of the soybeans in Mercer County has been harvested and quite a bit of corn has been taken off for silage (feed for beef and dairy cattle), Mercer County Farm Service Agency Executive Director Chris Gibbs said this morning. A lower percentage of shelled corn has been harvested, he said. No numbers were available for Auglaize County.
