Cyril H. Fortkamp
Cyril H. Fortkamp, 83, Fort Recovery, died July 29, 2011, at Briarwood Village, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 10, 1927, in Celina, to Henry and Mary Homan Fortkamp.
On Jan. 10, 1953, he married Mary Ann Bruns, who died May 28, 2009.
Survivors include five daughters, Carol (Steve) Dahlinghaus, Maria Stein, Marlene (Les) Kaiser, Fort Recovery, Mary (Larry) Rindler, Fort Recovery, Diana (Don) Schoenlein, Fort Recovery, and Marge (Mark) Vogel, Fort Recovery; four sons, Fred (Barb) Fortkamp, Fort Recovery, Paul (Ginny) Fortkamp, Fort Recovery, John Fortkamp, Fort Recovery, and Jim (Julie) Fortkamp, Bryant, Ind.; four sisters, Rita Zehringer, Coldwater, Rosie May, Fort Recovery, Berniece Poling, Coldwater, and Alice (Eugene) Steinke, Wapakoneta; four brothers, Vincent (Jean) Fortkamp, Fort Recovery, Henry (Arlene) Fortkamp Jr., Fort Recovery, Lavern (Elaine) Fortkamp, Dayton, and Ralph Fortkamp, Fort Recovery; 33 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was employed at the former New Idea Plant, Coldwater, Fort Recovery Equity Exchange, and was a retired farmer. He was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Sharpsburg, and its Holy Name Society.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 3324 and American Legion Post 345, Fort Recovery, Fourth Degree member of St. Gasper del Buffalo Assembly, Minster, National Farmers Organization and served on the Wabash River Conservancy District.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, the Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the Fort Recovery American Legion.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Monday and 9-9:45 a.m. Tuesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery, where there will be a prayer service by the Knight of Columbus at 7:50 p.m. Monday.
