Delivering the alum
Photo by Mark Pummell/The Daily Standard

A barge holding the tanks of chemicals for the alum treatment on Grand Lake leaves the staging area along West Bank Road in Celina on Thursday morning. Ohio EPA Director Scott Nally this morning said the kick off was a success. The treatment process began Thursday and will last about 28 days as weather permits. The goal is to neutralize phosphorous, which feeds the toxic blue-green algae, and keep algae blooms at bay this summer.
