Brian Obringer, center, demonstrates the rich soil in the "no dig garden" he and his wife, Lisa (at right with shovel), created in the backyard of their Coldwater home. The Obringers started the idea last year by watering the designated grassy area, applying layers of newspaper and manure and rewatering. The process kills the grass and prepares the soil for spring planting. The presentation Wednesday afternoon was sponsored by the Coldwater Memorial Public Library and was held in conjunction with its annual plant swamp program.
