Ernest Roe
Ernest Roe, 83, Decatur, Ind., died at 2 a.m. Jan. 5, 2011, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur.
He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Adams County, Ind., to Fred J. and Daisy Galloway Roe. On Sept. 28, 1957, he married Betty Lee Fickert, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Randy (Kim) Roe, Decatur,and three grandchildren.
Deceased are three sisters, Wilima Hough, Lillian Kincaid and Helen Davis; and four brothers, Delmas, Clifford, Robert and Raymond Roe.
He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Ohio City. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #43 in Decatur, the Adams County Coon Hunter's Club and the Pleasant Mills Lions Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served from 1950-1954 during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Central Soya.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, the Rev. Denise Brown officiating. Burial is at Backesto Cemetery in Berne, Ind.
Calling is noon-3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, and 9 -10:30 a.m. Monday at the church.
Memorials may be left to the church or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
