Edith Adams
Edith Mary Armstrong Adams, 89, Spencerville, died at 4:55 p.m. Jan. 5, 2011, at her home.
She was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Middle Point to George Allen and Mildred G. Ditto Armstrong Sr. On March 22, 1941, she married Layton V. Adams, who died Aug. 30, 1991.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan (Fred) Lee, Spencerville, and Joyce (Edward) Williams, Concord, N.C.; a brother, Alfred (Frances) Armstrong; a sister, Gwen Uncapher, Mendon; a brother-in-law, Harold Fleming, Van Wert; two sisters-in-law, Barbara Armstrong and Marilyn Armstrong; six grandchildren; two stepgrandsons; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Also deceased is a son, Larry Adams; four brothers, George, Paul, Thomas and infant, Larry Armstrong; a sister, Catherine Fleming; two sisters-in-law, Mildred and Linda Armstrong; and a great-grandson.
She was a homemaker and worked at The Journal News in Spencerville for 25 years before retiring in 1983. She was a 1939 graduate of Spencerville High School. She was a member of the Spencerville United Church of Christ. She served as a Sunday school teacher, Brownie/Girl Scout leader and a 4-H Club adviser for several years.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Saturday at Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, the Rev. R. Vincent Lavieri and David W. Howell co-officiating. Burial is at Spencerville Cemetery.
Calling is 4-9 p.m. Friday and 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
