Norman Phipps
Norman E. "Andy" Phipps, 81, St. Marys died at 1 p.m. Dec. 18, 2010, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
He was born April 14, 1929, in Hoytville to J. Anderson and Joyce Rader Phipps. On Nov. 24, 1952, he married Barbara Lee Cook, who died April 2, 2000.
Surviving are two sons, David (Jennifer) Phipps, St. Marys. and Dean (Barbara) Phipps, New Bremen; a daughter, Nan (Tim) Flohre, Huber Heights; a brother, Donald Phipps, of Florida; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Also deceased is a sister, Betty Doty.
He was a 1947 graduate to Jackson Township High School in Hoytville and a retired production employee of the former Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company in St. Marys. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member and past president of the Eagles Lodge Aerie 767 in St. Marys, past state deputy for Ohio District 22 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 and American Legion Post 323 in St. Marys.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys, the Rev. Ed Bray officiating. Burial with full graveside military honors is at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
Calling is noon-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
