Dwight Koontz
Dwight "Sleep" R. Koontz, 71, Celina, died Oct. 21, 2010, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born Dec. 23, 1938, in Celina to Lawrence and Mabel Now Koontz. His mother survives, and his father is deceased. He married Madonna Spohn, who survives in Celina.
Also surviving are two sons, Kevin (Jessica) Koontz, Celina, and Kerry (Amy) Koontz, Van Wert; a sister, Joan Stetler, Rockford; and three grandchildren.
Deceased is a brother-in-law, Dick Stetler.
He graduated from Celina High School in 1956. He served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5713, American Legion Post 210 and the Moose & Elks Lodges, all of Celina. He was a Celina Lake Festival Committee member and a Celina Athletic Booster.
A graveside memorial service with military honors by the VFW and the American Legion Post of Celina is 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Swamp College Cemetery, Celina, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery in Celina.
Memorials may be left at St. John Lutheran Church in Celina.
