Rosalie Stoup
Former St. Marys and Celina resident Rosalie Burgess Stoup, 98, Naples, Fla., died at 1:20 a.m. Sept. 1, 2010, at Bentley Village Health Center in Naples.
She was born March 29, 1912, in Hemet, Calif., to John and Agnes Botterell. She was married to Sherman G. Burgess and Curry W. Stoup, both deceased.
Surviving is a son, Don (Connie) Burgess, St. Marys; a daughter, Patricia Robson, Naples; two stepdaughters, Shirley Cobb, Baltimore, Md., and Carolyn (John) MacGuffie, Yorktown, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a sister, Enid Fremdling.
She was a graduate of North Hollywood High School and UCLA, where she earned a bachelor's and master's in history and English. She taught at Beverly Hills High School in Beverly Hills, Calif., and St. Marys Memorial High School. She was active in the Fort Amanda Girl Scout Association, the American Association of University Women and the Pilot Club of Akron. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Miami of Ohio Alumni Association. She also was a member of the Imperial, Wyndemere, Bonita Bay and Collier's Reserve country clubs. She belonged to the Trinity-by-the-Cove Episcopal Church in Naples.
A memorial service will be held at the church, the Rev. Michael Basden officiating. Burial will be at Naples Memorial Gardens in Naples.
Contributions can be made to the church or Avow Hospice of Collier County, Naples.
Fuller Funeral Home in Naples handled arrangements.
