Perry Dailey
Perry E. "Gene" Dailey, 82, Wapakoneta, died at 12:21 a.m. July 14, 2010, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima.
He was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Rockford, to Amos and Barbara Weaver Dailey. On April 18, 1951, he married Rita L. Drexler, who survives.
Also surviving are 11 children, Perry (Sue) Dailey, Orland Park, Ill., James Dailey, Carol Dailey, and Tina (Melvin) Applin, all of Wapakoneta, Rick (Roxanne) Dailey and Donald (Sue) Dailey, all of Cridersville, Jerry (Helen) Dailey, Willard, Larry (Lisa) Dailey, St. Henry, Linda (Richard) Morey, Morehead City, N.C., Rose Martin, Lima, and Connie (Joe) Hillman, Ada; a brother, Thomas (Betty) Dailey, Van Wert; three sisters, Lela Wagner, Celina, Lula Springer, Naples, Fla., Donna (John) Baxter, Gatlinburg, Tenn.; two sisters-in-law, Charlene Dailey, Decatur, Ind. and Mary Lou Dailey, Berne, Ind.; 33 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a daughter, Mary Dailey; a grandson, Joseph Neer; a great-grandson, Garrett Stewart; four brothers, Merdeth, Charles, Frank, and Ralph Dailey; and four sisters, Mary Tindall, Bonnie Dittus and Wilma and Lucille Dailey.
He worked at Monarch Machine and Tool Co. in Sidney. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served from 1946-1949. He was a member of the American Legion Post 330 in Wapakoneta.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta. Burial with military rites by the Wapakoneta Veterans of Foreign Wars is at St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
