Niles Amey
Niles B. Amey, 82, Defiance, died May 24, 2010, at the Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center in Defiance.
He was born Feb. 1, 1928, in Tunncanock, Pa., to Arthur L. and Elizabeth A. Travis Amey. On Aug. 22, 1953, he married Betty Davis, who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter-in-law, Michelle Lee Amey, San Antonio, Texas; one half sister, Judy Mason, Harrod; one brother, Arthur (Gloria) Amey, San Marcos, Texas; one half brother, Richard Amey, Florida; and three grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, N. Travis Amey, and a brother, Howard T. Amey.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Defiance. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a 32nd Degree Mason. He worked as a loan officer at the former Home Savings and Loan in Defiance and at the Henry County Bank in Napoleon until retiring in 1993. He graduated from Ada High School in 1946 and attended Ohio Northern University. He was a member of the Defiance High Athletic Boosters.
Funeral Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. Tim Reynolds officiating. Burial is at Swamp College Cemetery in Celina.
Calling is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home in Defiance and 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Memorials can be made to the church, the heart fund or the Defiance Area Hospice Inpatient Center.
