Melvin Overholser
Melvin W. Overholser, 85, 229 W. Main St., Russia, died April 15, 2010, at Versailles Health Care.
He was born Sept. 21, 1924, in Conover, to Earl and Margaret (West) Overholser. On Aug. 23, 1947, he married Ursula Goubeaux, who died Aug. 3, 1999.
Surviving is a son, John (Nancy) Overholser, Versailles; two daughters, Jane (Denny) Meyer, Fort Loramie, and Judy Ross, Sidney; a daughter-in-law, Lorraine Overholser, Fletcher; a brother, Tom Overholser, Ida, MI; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a special friend, Nancy Hayes.
Deceased is a son, Joe; twin granddaughters; a brother, Bill Overholser, and two sisters, Mary Karnes and Thelma DeVine.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Minster Machine Co. in 1987, after 38 years. He was a member of St. Remy Catholic Church, Russia; Catholic War Veterans, Russia; AMVETS, Covington; Knights of Columbus, Russia; and American Legion Post 0217, Sidney.
A funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Remy Catholic Church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to State of the Heart Hospice.
Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Russia, is handling arrangements.
