Chris and Jessie Darling of Clayton, encourage their son, Gabriel, to write his name in the sand Wednesday afternoon on a beach at Grand Lake St. Marys State Park. Officials are hoping the beach will be safe for swimming this summer if an Auglaize County grant application comes through for technology that would reduce the algae in the nearby water.
