Good crops predicted for most parts of the nation, but not here

The worst crops in the nation are located in a small area that includes Mercer and Auglaize counties, even though record crops are being predicted nationwide this year, an area ag official said on Thursday.
John Leighty, a grain merchandiser with Advanced Agri-Solutions, spoke at Thursday's monthly ag breakfast meeting in Celina. He was among a group of people who recently went on the annual National Pro Farmer Crop Tour to survey the nation's crops. [More]

MARIA STEIN - The Marion Local Flyers put on a dominating display Thursday in their Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball opener by throttling the New Bremen Cardinals in three quick games, 25-9, 25-9 and 25-11.
The Flyers, who scuffled a bit in Tuesday's win over Lehman, put those issues behind them against the Cardinals, as a dominating net game and smothering defense were the keys to the blowout win. [More]
