Ripe tomatoes

A crew with the Beckman & Gast Co. of St. Henry ride on a Button-Johnson tomato harvester along Kremer-Hoying Road in St. Henry on Tuesday. The harvester plucks the plant from the ground and sorts the tomatoes by color. The workers also sort the fruit and insure the tomatoes roll neatly onto a conveyor belt and into an adjacent semitrailer, according to company spokeswoman Trish Albers. Beckman & Gast have other fields in the area and also are currently harvesting green beans.
