Francis Monnier
Francis J. "Tod" Monnier, 84, of Park Drive, Russia, died Aug. 17, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 12, 1924, in Bloomer to Roy R. and Dena Reboulet Monnier. On April 7, 1951, he married Wilma E. Budde of Maria Stein, who survives.
Other survivors are three children, James (Donna) Monnier, Versailles, Steve (Jane) Monnier, Troy, and Deb (Ted) Baker, Versailles; two siblings, Helen (Firmin) Paulus, Midland, Mich., and Norris Monnier, Russia; a sister-in-law, Barb (Schneider) Monnier and a brother-in-law, Kenneth Monnin, Vandalia.
Deceased are a brother, John; and two sisters, Rose Monnin and Mary Fisher.
He worked at Aeroproducts/General Motors, Vandalia for 14 years, then at Francis Manufacturing, Russia for 31 years, retiring in 1993. He attended St. Remy Catholic Church where he had been an usher, a senior citizen Mass server and a former choir member. He was an honorary member of the St. Remy Knights of Columbus Commandary and a founding member of St. Remy Catholic War Veterans. He was past president of the Russia Civic Association and the Russia Homecoming Committee. He graduated from Russia High School in 1941 and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in North Africa and India.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Friday at the church, the Rev. Frank Amberger officiating.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-9:45 a.m. Friday at Gehret Funeral Home, Fort Loramie. Burial is at the church cemetery with full military honors by the Catholic War Veterans.
