A juvenile court program that teaches youths how to prepare healthy meals has been deemed a success in its first year.
From September through June, Mercer County Juvenile Court officials teamed up with the local Ohio State University Extension office to help troubled juveniles improve their social skills, self confidence and leadership skills and learn new skills and interests while learning to cook and eat healthier meals. St. Marys councilors ask
ST. MARYS - City officials are concerned about the new fees being levied by county commissioners pertaining to the now-closed county landfill. Where's the money they should have set aside, one councilman wondered at this week's solid waste management committee meeting.
With all papers now in hand, the Ohio Supreme Court will decide the fate of a former Chickasaw man seeking to have his 24-year prison sentence overturned on the basis it represents cruel and unusual punishment.
MINSTER - Local residents will be paying slightly more for refuse collection due to state budget mandates.
Councilors Tuesday night unanimously approved an increase of 13 cents per month bringing the current $11.76 residential fee to $11.89. The increase amounts to $1.56 annually.
The Ohio EPA recently approved a water quality monitoring program for the Grand Lake and Wabash River watersheds that will rely on local volunteers collecting the data.
