* ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 12:40 PM EDT Sunday the stage was 13.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet this afternoon. It will then fall below flood stage just after midnight tonight. - Flood stage is 13.0 feet.

Grand Lake shoreline protection

Officials from Shoreline Construction Excavating, Huntsville, use a barge and heavy equipment to place riprap (large rocks) around the shoreline at Behm's Landing lighthouse on Grand Lake. The work is part of a $700,000 state capital funds project Grand Lake St. Marys State Park began in February. Brian Miller, state park assistant manager, said the workers will next move to the north side of the lake to put riprap around Fisher's Island, located off the shore from the state park campground. The Behm's Landing and Fisher's Island riprapping jobs were alternate projects the state park ended up having money to complete, Miller said. All areas receiving riprap were identified as high priority locations in the state park's shoreline protection plan due to high erosion, Miller said.
