Charles Wolf
Charles A. Wolf, 95, of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, died at 7:38 a.m. Feb. 4, 2009, at home.
He was born June 3, 1913, in Minster, to Anton and Mary Poeppelman Wolf. On Sept. 14, 1938, he married Leona Westerheide, who died Jan. 28, 1988.
Surviving are six children, Lila Roberts, Vandalia, Roger (Caren), Carmel, Ind., the Rev. John Wolf, Kerney, Mo., Judy (George) Close, Antioch, Ill., Tony (Judy), Minster, and Joe (Sandy), Fort Loramie; a sister-in-law, Dorothy, Minster; 19 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are three brothers, August, Lawrence and Albert; three sisters, Margaret Meyer, Loretta Goettemoeller and Mary Ann Baumer; and a son-in-law, Ed Roberts.
He was a retired farmer and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both in Minster. He was a former member of the Minster Board of Education, the Farm Bureau Council and the Shelby County Board of Elections. He helped organize the Minster Life Squad.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, the Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 3-8 p.m. Friday and 9-9:30 a.m. Saturday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
Contributions can be made to the Missionary Sisters of the Precious Blood, Dayton.
