New Bremen Mayor Jeff Pape selects a key from a basket kicking off a fundraising project for the proposed lockkeeper's house to be built along the canal. Looking on is Delores Stienecker, a local village councilor and New Bremen Historic Association member. The historic association is selling 1,000 keys at $20 each with the holder of the key that unlocks the door receiving a $1,000 cash prize donated by Western Ohio True Value Hardware. Keys can be purchased at the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce or from Stienecker.
