Gerald Hoenie
Gerald E. Hoenie, 77, 14641 Auglaize County Road 66-A, St. Marys, died at 8:35 a.m. Dec. 30, 2008, at his residence.
He was born Dec. 9, 1931, in Mercer County, to Raymond and Mabel Regedanz Hoenie. On July 26, 1952, he married Joan M. Alexander, who survives.
Other survivors are two sons, Jerry (Beverly) and Mike (Victoria), all of St. Marys; a daughter, Patricia (Mark) Cisco, New Bremen; two brothers, Jim (Delores), Fort Myers, Fla., and Warren (Nancy), Bonita Springs, Fla.; eight grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, a great-grandchild and a stepgreat-grandchild.
He was president and owner of Hoenie and Kogge Construction Company in St. Marys for many years. In retirement he worked at Carter Lumber Company, St. Marys. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Fraternal Order of Eagles, all in St. Marys. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the Korean War, and he graduated in 1950 from St. Marys Memorial High School.
Services are 2 p.m. Sunday at the church, the Rev. William Maki officiating. Burial is at Resthaven Memory Gardens, St. Marys.
Calling is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at Miller-Long and Folk Funeral Home, St. Marys.
Contributions can be made to the church or Grand Lake Hospice.
