Lewis Zimpfer
Lewis E. Zimpfer, 87, 207 Dogwood Drive, Celina, died at 2 p.m. Dec. 15, 2008, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.
He was born March 16, 1921, in Anna, to Albert and Ethel Marie Hensel Zimpfer. In 1953, he married Barbara Earl, who died July 31, 2001.
Surviving are two brothers, Richard (Margaret), Henderson, Nev., and Loren, Anna; two sisters, Mary Blackburn, Botkins, and Katherine Yoakum, Commerce, Texas; and a niece who was raised in the Zimpfer home, Caren Earl Wolf, Carmel, Ind.
Deceased are three brothers, Ivan, Vincent and Mose; and a sister, Elizabeth Ehemann.
He owned Zimpfer Jewelers, Celina, with his wife and was a watchmaker. He continued to repair watches and antique clocks until his recent hospitalization. He was a member of the Celina Masonic Lodge, St. Marys Royal Arch Council and Commandery, Dayton Antioch Temple and the Valley of the Dayton Scottish Rite, and was a former member of the St. Marys Veterans of Foreign Wars and Marion American Legion. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army Ordnance Corps. He had served on the Boy Scout Council for more than 50 years.
A gathering of friends will be held 1-1:30 p.m. Thursday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Celina, with a prayer service to be conducted by Rev. Jim Richter.  A graveside memorial service with Masonic rites is planned in March at Pearl Cemetery, Anna.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Celina.
Contributions can be made to Boys Scouts of America-Black Swamp Area Council, Findlay.
