James Klosterman
James G. "Jim" Klosterman, 82, died at 2:50 a.m. Oct. 30, 2008, at Albany Health Care, Albany, Ind.
He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Dayton, to Julius Rudolph and Helen Mary Hemmert Klosterman. On Jan. 23, 1969, he married Priscilla Ruble, who survives.
Other survivors are six children, Susan (Michael) Beckett, Chesterton, Ind., Joe (Mary), St. Marys, Theresa (John) Fisher, Winchester, Ind., Dan (Vicky) Vinson, Union City, Ind., Julie (Chris) McCoy, Pensacola, Fla., and Jamie, Riverview, Mich.; a caregiver, Molly Jane Miller; 15 grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
Deceased is a son, David.
He worked for 25 years in the family grain elevator business, first at Ohio City Grain and later the former Harrisville Grain, Harrisville, Ind. He also worked for Campbell Soup, Saratoga, Ind., and Naas Foods in Portland, Ind., where he worked in maintenance until his retirement in 1988. He was a Little League coach and a member of the Saratoga Lions Club and the American Legion, Ridgeville, Ind. He was a 1944 graduate of Ansonia High school, a 1949 graduate of Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., with a degree in agriculture. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in occupied Japan.
Services are 1 p.m. Monday at Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, Fountain City, Ind., Burial is at New Garden Cemetery, Fountain City.
Calling is 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
