Daniel Amspaugh
Daniel F. Amspaugh, 82, of Ansonia, died Oct. 22, 2008, at his residence.
He was born in Beamsville to Z. Wileford and Lessie B. Warvel Amspaugh. His wife, Marilyn R. Purtee, died in 1975.
Surviving are a daughter, Corl Amspaugh-Topolski (Eugene J. Topolski), Warsaw, Ind.; four sisters, Mary (Charles) Hart, Dayton, Iona, Berne, Ind., Thelma (Dean) Brewer, Greenville, and Danna (Roger) Miller, Versailles; and his companion, Betty Brumbaugh.
He was a local photographer and retired from the former New Idea plant in Coldwater, where he worked for more than 30 years. He served as mayor of Ansonia for 12 years and on the Ansonia town council and school board. He was a member of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, the Darke County Republican Party, the Masonic Lodge, Versailles, the Darke County Antioch Shrine and Scottish Rite, Dayton.
He also was a graduate of Greenville High School and Ohio State University, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville, with Iona Amspaugh officiating. Burial is at Greenville Cemetery.
Calling is 2-5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Versailles Masonic Lodge offering a memorial service at 4:45 p.m.
