Thomas Huelsman
Former St. Henry resident Thomas L. Huelsman, 63, LaVernia, Texas, died Sept. 13, 2008, in LaVernia, Texas.
He was born Sept. 23, 1944, in Piqua, to Ralph and Marie Meyer Huelsman. His mother survives in St. Henry. On May 14, 1966, he married Roberta Shafenberg, who also survives.
Other survivors are his children, Thomas, Austin, Texas, Paul, LaVernia, Bridget (Michael) Lovato, Austin, and Amy (Jay) Knox, Bertram, Texas; a brother, Jerry (Cindy), St. Henry; four sisters, Barbara (Michael) Gerard, Wooster, Marcia (Jerry) Jackson, Alexandria, Karen (James) Jilek, Gahanna, and Mary Jane (Mark) D'Eramo, Tyler, Texas; and five grandchildren.
He worked at Texas Instruments Corp. Dallas and Austin, Texas, and recently retired from USAA Insurance Corp., San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Air Force in the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1968 where he was the NCO in charge of electronic communication and cryptographic equipment at the Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai AFB. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Henry High School and earned a degree in business administration from St. Edwards University in Austin.
Memorial Mass is 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Henry Catholic Church, the Rev. Benedict Magabe officiating.
