Scattered snow showers can be expected this morning along with westerly winds gusting to around 40 mph at times. Temperatures will continue to fall this morning, with readings dropping well below freezing.
Snow accumulations will be a half inch or less. This will result in some slick spots on untreated surfaces as well as bridges and overpasses. Please allow for some extra time to reach your destination this morning. Be prepared for changing road conditions as well as gusty winds.

An arctic cold front will move quickly east across the region through daybreak. This will usher in a much colder airmass with temperatures quickly falling below freezing.
Snow showers can be expected this morning with snow accumulations of a half inch or less possible. This will combine with the falling temperatures to produce slick spots on untreated roadways. In addition, brisk west winds will gust to 25 to 35 mph at times this morning.
The morning commute will be affected by these conditions. Please allow for some extra time to reach your destination. Be prepared for slick spots, especially on bridges an overpasses.

Betty Straw
Betty June Straw, 83, 14629 Schumm Road, Ohio City, died at 4:15 a.m. Sept. 7, 2008, at her home.
She was born June 1, 1925, in Mendon, to Oral Eugene and Goldie Marie Grimm Rickard. On July 3, 1948, she married Jason D. Straw, who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Anthony D. (Barb), Aliso Viejo, Calif.; Dennis W. (Terri), Ohio City; and Jay D. (Jennifer), Grand Rapids, Mich.; five daughters, Linda D. (Terry) Stuckey and Kathie D., all of Ohio City; Deb. K., Wren; Susan D. Tinnel and Karen D. (Doug) Droll, all of Van Wert; a brother, Oral "Gene" Rickard, Young, Ariz.; two sisters, Donna L., Winter Park, Fla., and Jo Ann Clark, Virginia Beach, Va.; 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a son, Douglas Lloyd; and a grandson.
She was a homemaker, a member of St. Paul's Church, Harrison Township, and had served on the county board of elections.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Jerry Flueckiger officiating. Burial will follow at Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, Harrison Township.
Calling is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and after 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
