Residents' complaints lead to arrests at local landing

By Janie Southard
Nine arrests were made near the Duck Foot Landing bar on the southside of Grand Lake by the Mercer County Sheriff's Department during the weekend.
Following numerous complaints and a letter to Sheriff Jeff Grey from Duck Foot area cottage owners, county sheriff's deputies specifically patrolled the area last weekend.
"Residents in this area should not have to tolerate people passed out in their yards, urinating on their property and disorder," said Grey in a press release to the newspaper this morning.
Most of those arrested are from outside the county, and the sheriff said this will serve as a warning to all visitors at Duck Foot Landing that his office will keep making arrests until the problem is resolved.
Deputies will strictly enforce all OVI laws including drivers of golf carts, as well as open container laws and disorderly conduct laws, Grey said.
Anything that can be traced back to a particular tavern will result in charges against tavern employees and that tavern's liquor license.
"Talking about this hasn't worked; now it's time for action," Grey said in the release.
Two men arrested on Friday and charged with open container in public were Eric Brandewie, 45, Fort Loramie, and Darrell Foudray, 42, Celina.
Arrested on Saturday and charged with open container in public were: Sheila Reiser, 42, West Carrollton; Joseph Seger, 57, Fort Loramie; Nick Hinders, 39, West Carrollton; Dianna Bradburn, 50, Celina; and Sarah Davis, 28, Troy.
Also arrested were: Dustin Collins, 35, Columbus, charged with urinating in public, and Matthew W. Meyerhoeffer, 24, Waynesville, disorderly conduct, passed out on private property.
