David Heidegger
Former Noble Township, Jay County, Ind. resident, David H. Heidegger, 91, a resident of the Veteran's Administration Nursing Home in Ft. Thomas, Ky., died at 9:23 a.m. Aug. 16, 2008, at St. Luke Hospital in Fort Thomas.
He was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Noble Township, to F. Jacob and Mabel Bartling Heidegger. On Feb. 20, 1949, he married Virginia Funk, who died December 14, 2000.
Surviving are four daughters, Christene A. Heidegger, Fort Wayne, Ind., Anita (Leslie J.) Keller, Albion, Ind., Marcia (Jerome R.) Schoenlein, Portland, Ind., and Karen (Joseph) Yaegel, Alexandria, Ky.; a brother, Walter, Portland, Ind.; three sisters, Florence Coldren, Fort Wayne, Rachel Stultz, Portland, and Miriam (Charles) Jones, Anderson, Ind.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
  He was a farmer in Noble Township, a veteran of the U. S. Army during World War II in the South Pacific, a member of St. James Lutheran Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in Salamonia, Ind., and the American Legion, Portland. He graduated from Madison Township High School
  Services are 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church, the Rev. Douglas Meyer officiating. Burial is at the Reitenour Cemetery west of Deerfield, Ind., where the American Legion will conduct military rites.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Portland Chapel of the Williamson & Spencer Funeral Home and Wednesday one hour prior to service at the church.
