Roger Bornhorst
Roger E. Bornhorst, 79, 128 S. Hanover St., Minster, died at 4:45 a.m. July 21, 2008, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Minster.
He was born Jan. 30, 1929, in Minster, to Anthony and Loretta Sommer Bornhorst. On Nov. 27, 1952, he married Theresa I. Bensman, who died Dec. 10, 2004.
Survivors are a companion, Edith Pleiman, Fort Loramie; a son, Tony (Gretchen), West End, N.C.; four daughters, Phyllis (Jerry) Baumer and Connie (James) Prenger, all of Minster, Lynn (Greg) Meyer, Celina, and Jill (John) Frierott, Bartlette, Tenn.; a brother, Elton (Lynn), Kettering; two sisters, Janet (Alan) Boerger, Troy, and Thelma (Nick) Hogenkamp, Minster; two sisters-in-law, Anita Bornhorst, Minster, and Kathy Bornhorst, Glastonbury, Conn.; and 12 grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Kenneth and Melvin.
He was the former owner and operator of the Bornhorst Construction Company. He was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, and the American Legion, all in Minster, and the Minster Civic Association, where he was selected Citizen of the Year in 1998. He served in the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army.
Funeral Mass is 10 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Rick Nieberding officiating. Burial is at the church cemetery.
Calling is 2-8 Wednesday and 9-9:30 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Minster.
