Seranus Seitz
Seranus V. "Si" Seitz, 91, of Coldwater died at 7:30 p.m. June 22, 2008, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 7, 1917, in Cranberry Prairie, to John and Clara Steinbrunner Seitz. On June 15, 1946, he married Dolores Huelsman at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Dayton, and she survives.
Other survivors are two sons, John (Ginny), Celina, Jim, Atlanta, Ga.; four daughters, Shirley Seitz, West Milton, Vicki (Phil) Sims, and Mary (Tony) Stammen all of Coldwater, and Cindy Walling of West Milton; a brother Jack (Betty), Kettering; a sister Ginny Dixon of Houstonville, Ky., a brother-in-law Clarence Gels, Chicago, Ill., and two sisters-in-law, Buff and Margie Seitz, both of Dayton.
Deceased are two brothers and their wives: Curly and Agnes Seitz and Pete and Stella Seitz: three brothers, Bob, Luke and Art Seitz; two sisters and their husbands, Helen and Derby Harris and Esther and "Boozie" Bir; a sister Alma Gels; and a brother-in-law Eddie Dixon.
He founded Buckeye Sheet Metal, in New Carlisle in 1946, Central Heating & Plumbing in Coldwater in 1948 and later founded Central Soft Water and Superior Water Service, Coldwater. He retired in 1997. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fraternal Order of Eagles, the American Legion, and the Knights of Columbus all in Coldwater, and a member of the Mercer County Benevolent & Protective Order of Elks. He served as a captain in the U.S. Army Air Corp. during World War II.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Daniel Schmitmeyer officiating.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. today and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at Hogenkamp Funeral Home, Coldwater. Burial is at St. Elizabeth Cemetery, Coldwater, where military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
