Dorothy E. Jung, 89, 17000 Roettger Road, New Bremen, died at 2 a.m. June 16, 2008, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center, Minster.

She was born Oct. 21, 1918, near New Bremen in Shelby County, to Herman and Anna Nolte Opperman. On June 6, 1943, she married Nelson H. Jung, who died April 29, 1995.
Survivors are a son, Thomas (Diana), Anna; four brothers, Robert (Jean) Opperman, Fostoria; Myron (Wavelene) Opperman, New Knoxville, Fred (Betty) Opperman, New Bremen, and Marvin Opperman, Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Deceased are two brothers, Ed and Vernon Opperman.

A homemaker, she helped her husband on the family farm and worked at Kuck's Turkey Farm near New Knoxville. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in New Bremen, where she served as church treasurer and in the Lay Life ministry. She also was a member of the Farm Bureau.

Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at the church, the Rev. Stephen Wills officiating. Burial is at Schwaberow Cemetery, New Bremen.

Calling is 4-8 p.m. today at Gilberg-Hartwig Funeral Home, New Bremen, and one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church.
