At 80, Wilma Wynk recalls with bitterness the day her father ended her education and made her a full-time farmhand.
"I was 16 and had just finished my sophomore year at Coldwater (High School)," says the Osgood resident.
It was 65 years ago and her three brothers, Ray, Edward and Paul Studer, were called to serve in World War II. It was a trying time for the family; her father desperately needed her to get a job as well as help milk cows, gather eggs, harvest wheat and husk corn. [More]

ELIDA - It's a familiar scenario: Coldwater playing for a district title in Elida.
The Cavaliers advanced to the Division III district baseball final on Saturday with a 11-1 win over Paulding on Thursday at Ed Sandy Field in Elida.
Coldwater (24-4) will play Ottawa-Glandorf at 1 p.m. for the chance to return to Elida next week for regional play. The two teams have not faced each other since 1999. [More]

DESHLER - The Celina softball team was one strike away from being ousted out of the postseason on Thursday, but the Bulldogs weren't ready to bail out quite yet.

ARCHBOLD - Shocking. Unbelievable. Wow.
Those were just some of the words being said on Thursday afternoon at Archbold's Memorial Park after Celina upset No. 1 ranked Defiance 3-2 in Division II district semifinal baseball action.
MINSTER - The Marion Local girls and the New Bremen boys both grabbed the early lead at the Division III District track meet at Minster on Thursday.
WAPAKONETA - At the plate, on the mound, or in the field, it didn't matter, last night the Parkway Panthers were ready to play some softball.
When it was all said and done, Mark Esselstein's crew battered and pummeled the Allen East Mustangs to a tune of an 11-0 run-rule victory.
