Food for Haiti
Photo by Shelley Grieshop/The Daily Standard

Students at Immaculate Conception School in Celina help load a truck bound for Haiti after helping volunteers sort and package the numerous food items. The food drive involved the Catholic parishes of IC in Celina, St. Teresa in Rockford and Our Lady of Guadalupe in Montezuma. High protein items such as canned meat, beans and peanut butter were most needed due to the numerous villages in Haiti where people are starving to death, says Brother Nick Renner. The project is part of the Haitian Health Foundation, which was founded by Mother Teresa and serves 105 villages, and the local One Block at a Time program led by Ben Huelskamp of Maria Stein.
