Herbert Luebke
Herbert F. Luebke, 86, of Sugar Hollow, Va., died at 7:55 p.m. April 22, 2008, at Heartland of Greenville. He also lived in Osgood and Troy.
He was born in North Star, to Henry and Claire Overman Luebke. He married June O. Gunkle, who died in 1994.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald (Pattie), Englewood, and Tim (Kim), Columbus; a daughter Connie (Tom) Stucke, Greenville; a sister, Mary Grieshop, Osgood; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Luebke and Lois Steinbrunner; nine grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are two brothers, Ed and Bob Luebke; a sister, Eleanor Dinger; and a grandson.
He retired from General Motors Corp., served in the Army Air Corps. in WWII where he was a tail gunner on a B-17 bomber. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Pleasant Hill, the American Legion, Osgood, and of the St. Marys Catholic Church, Greenville.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. at St. Marys Catholic Church, Greenville, the Rev. Glen Perin officiating. Burial, with full military honors, is at St. Martin Cemetery in Osgood.
Calling is 4-8 p.m. Thursday, at Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville.
