Werner Staugler
Werner J. "Dick" Staugler, 89, 2742 Wabash Road, Fort Recovery, died at 11:23 a.m. March 16, 2008, at Mercer County Community Hospital, Coldwater.
He was born Sept. 13, 1918, in Fort Recovery, to Frank and Elnora Bertke Staugler. On June 26, 1948, he married Genevieve Green, who survives.
Other survivors are five daughters, Cindy (Stan) Rainey, Hilton Head, S.C., Sandy (Carl) Hastings, Peg (Dave) Bretz, Pat (Don) Wendel, and Lisa (Gary) Wendel, all of Fort Recovery, a brother, Ralph Staugler, Fort Recovery; a sister, Viola (Quinn) Hagedorn, Dayton, 15 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a daughter, Beverly Ann Sauer; three brothers, Harold, Richard and Lester; and two grandchildren.
He was former co-owner and president of the former St. Clair Mills, Inc., Fort Recovery. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort Recovery, the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge, Celina, and the Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Fort Recovery.
Funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church, Rev. Thomas Dorn officiating. Burial is at St. Marys Cemetery, Fort Recovery.
Calling is 2-8 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday at Brockman-Boeckman Funeral Home, Fort Recovery.
Contributions can be made to the Werner "Dick" Staugler Memorial Fund c/o the Fort Recovery Community Foundation or the State of the Heart Home Health and Hospice.
